Randlab HGB HindGut Balancer is a nutritional feed supplement for horses, designed to feed good gut microbiome and improve overall gut health. HBG delivers a unique blend of natural prebiotics, antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, and buffering agents that can help optimise general health and recovery from competitions / strenuous exercise.
Horses with hindgut imbalance have been associated with loss of performance and poor heath outcomes. Subclinical hindgut acidosis has been linked as the cause for a number of subtle findings, including:
- Drop in expected performance levels.
- Inappetence.
- Diarrhoea or loose faeces.
- Recurring colic.
- Poor body condition and weight loss.
- Sensitivity in the flank.
- Poor hoof / coat quality.
- Changes in behaviour.
- Poor food utilisation (not achieving weight gain from more food).
- Common behaviours such as cribbing, weaving, fence walking.
- Occasional ‘endotoxic storms,’ colitis, and laminitis.
HindGut Balancer (HGB) provides a targeted approach to managing hindgut imbalance in horses. It contains an encapsulated form of sodium bicarbonate that is designed to not release until it reaches the large intestine, where it helps restore and maintain a healthy balance of gut flora. HGB also contains beneficial probiotics and nutrients that help to promote a healthy microbiome.
Key Ingredients:
- Protected Sodium Bicarbonate – A slow-release buffering agent that is encapsulated to make sure it reaches the hindgut. It helps to stabilise the gut pH, and can be useful to support hindgut acidosis. Because there is limited absorption of sodium bicarb in the hindgut, it will not cause metabolic alkalosis.
- Beta vulgaris (Beetroot) – Promotes healthy digestion by providing support to gut motility as it is rich in soluble and insoluble fiber. Helps maintain digestive microbiome balance.
- Rosa canina (Rosehip) – Supports overall gut health by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. Contains powerful antioxidants, bioflavonoids and vitamins.
- Allum sativum (Garlic) – A prebiotic and antioxidant that supports the digestive tract by promoting healthy bacteria, and encouraging beneficial gut bacteria. It helps to improve digestion as well as intestinal health.
Ingredients:
Protected Sodium bicarbonate 65.7%, Rosa canina (Rosehip) 19.6%, Beta vulgaris (Beetroot) 9.8%, Allium sativum (Garlic) 4.9%
Dosage:
1 Scoop = 30g.
500kg horse – 75g (2.5 scoops) twice daily as a loading dose.
When your horses faeces are sufficiently solid and the faecal pH is in the 6.5 to 7.0 range, reduce the dose to 30g once daily as a maintenance dose.
Mix HGB well into your horses feed.
