Description
Time-Released Hindgut Buffer for Horses with Subclinical Acidosis
Equishure is a Time-released hindgut buffer that delivers encapsulated sodium bicarbonate to the cecum/colon to help stabilise hindgut pH and support normal digestive function, especially in horses on high-grain diets or lush pasture, or under training/competition stress.
Key Benefits
- Targeted hindgut delivery: encapsulation technology helps deliver sodium bicarbonate to the hindgut.
- Supports hindgut pH stability and helps reduce risk associated with hindgut acidosis/subclinical acidosis.
- May improve feed efficiency by supporting a favourable environment for fibre-digesting bacteria.
Recommended for
EquiShure® is commonly recommended for horses:
- Horses suspected of suffering from subclinical acidosis.
- On high-grain diets or grazing lush pasture
- With inappetence/decreased appetite or weight loss
- With unexplained behavioural changes (e.g., weaving/wood chewing/box walking)
- With digestive upset including loose manure
- Prone to recurrent mild colic or laminitis risk
- Sport/competition horses under training or travel stress
Signs of subclinical acidosis may include:
- Decreased feed intake or complete inappetence in severe cases
- Mild to moderate colic signs of unexplained origin
- Poor feed efficiency and subsequent weight loss
- Loss of performance
- Development of stereotypies such as wood chewing, weaving, and stall walking
A diagnosis of subclinical acidosis is often overlooked initially when one or more of the aforementioned signs is noticed. EquiShure, a time-released hindgut buffer, may be beneficial in counteracting the effects of this syndrome.
How It Works
EquiShure is a time-released hindgut buffer designed to help moderate hindgut conditions by delivering an encapsulated sodium bicarbonate source to the cecum and colon, supporting a more stable hindgut environment and normal digestive function.
Ingredients
Monoglycerides, Sodium Bicarbonate, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil.
Feeding directions
Feed 30–180 g daily depending on size and risk level. Top-dress on feed (or give orally). For best results, divide the daily amount across feedings. 1 scoop ≈ 30 g.
Daily amount guide (by bodyweight, grain intake, and forage source)
| Grain intake | Forage source | 300 kg (660 lb) | 500 kg (1100 lb) | 600 kg (1320 lb) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low–moderate | Mostly hay | 30–60 g | 60–90 g | 90–120 g |
| Low–moderate | Mostly pasture | 30–60 g | 60–90 g | 90–120 g |
| Moderate–high | Mostly hay | 60–90 g | 90–120 g | 120–150 g |
| Moderate–high | Mostly pasture | 90–120 g | 120–150 g | 150–180 g |
