Description
Equitak Excel is a three-way combination wormer containing Abamectin, Praziquantel, and Oxfendazole, providing broad-spectrum control of susceptible strains of roundworms, tapeworms, and stomach bots in horses, including abamectin-resistant Parascaris equorum and benzimidazole-resistant small strongyles.
Equitak Excel contains:
Abamectin – a member of the macrocyclic lactone (avermectin) family of drenches
Praziquantel – a member of the pyrazinoisoquinoline family of anthelmintics
Oxfendazole – a member of the benzimidazole family of drenches
Effective against the following parasites in horses:
- Roundworms (Ascarids): Parascaris equorum (mature and immature)
- Small strongyles: Cyathostomum spp., Gyalocephalus spp., Cylicostephanus spp., Cylicocyclus spp. (mature and immature), including benzimidazole-resistant strains
- Large strongyles: Strongylus vulgaris (mature and arterial larval stages), Strongylus edentatus (mature and tissue stages), Strongylus equinus (mature), Triodontophorus spp. (mature)
- Large mouth stomach worms: Habronema spp.
- Hairworms: Trichostrongylus axei (mature)
- Intestinal threadworms: Strongyloides westeri (mature)
- Pinworms: Oxyuris equi (adult and immature)
- Lungworms: Dictyocaulus arnfieldi (mature and immature)
- Tapeworms: Anoplocephala perfoliata (mature and immature, scoleces and segments)
- Bots: Gasterophilus spp. (oral and gastric stages)
Dosage and Administration
For oral use only. Do not underdose.
General dose rate:
1 gram of paste per 20 kg bodyweight
Delivers:
- Oxfendazole 10 mg/kg
- Praziquantel 2.5 mg/kg
- Abamectin 0.2 mg/kg
Active constituents (per gram):
- Abamectin 4 mg
- Praziquantel 50 mg
- Oxfendazole 200 mg
Also contains sodium metabisulphite 1 mg (antioxidant) and benzyl alcohol ≤3.0% w/w

Administration Instructions:
- Set the correct dose by turning the plunger lock.
- Remove the syringe cap.
- Insert the nozzle into the side of the horse’s mouth (between the front and back teeth).
- Advance over the tongue, press the plunger fully.
- Raise the horse’s head and hold briefly to ensure the full dose is swallowed.
