Our Sustainability Journey

Here at Vet Post, we are on a mission to care for pets, people and the planet.
We are a locally owned and operated company that loves New Zealand and wants to do what we can to look after our beautiful country. We believe that there’s no change too small, and every greener choice is important. Check out the greener choices we are making every day at Vet Post.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle:

The famous 3 R’s are taken seriously here at Vet Post!

We fight waste by equipping our team with reusable coffee cups (because coffee is the secret to our superpowers). We encourage all suppliers to use recyclable packaging materials, and we either reuse or recycle all of these where possible.

Our recycling programme means we are able to recycle cardboard, paper, plastics (types 1, 2, and 5), glass, and even soft plastics. All of our label backings are sent over to our friends at R3pack to be recycled too, and we have a hardworking worm farm that stops our food scraps from ending up in the landfill.

Sustainable Packaging: 

Where we can’t reuse packaging materials, we prioritize using recyclable materials, such as cardboard boxes and recyclable paper. We also use paper-based tape on our boxes. We want to ensure your parcel reaches you safely, whilst also minimizing our environmental footprint.

Carbon Neutral by 2024:

Our sustainability commitment doesn’t stop there! We are determined to become certified carbon neutral by 2024. By analyzing our energy consumption and carbon emissions, we aim to reduce our environmental impact and offset our carbon footprint. We are working with Toitū to become Carbon Neutral Certified.

Cleaner, Greener Partnerships:

We partner with other like-minded, eco-conscious companies who share our sustainability visions, such as NZ Post and R3pack. By working together, we can strengthen our efforts and impacts, and be a louder voice in the sustainability argument.

We also seek out eco-conscious products and brands, to give our customers the option to make environmentally kinder choices when shopping with us. We will be rolling out the “Vet Post Green Choice” logo, featuring on our products that are sustainably sourced, have compostable or recyclable packaging, or are produced by environmentally conscious brands.

Empowering Customers to Make Greener Choices:

Our sustainability journey wouldn’t be possible without our customers, and we want to encourage sustainable practices for the lifespan of orders, even in their new homes.  We will be introducing a comprehensive recycling guide for all of our packaging and products, to encourage our customers to reduce what ends up in the landfill. Our guides will break down not only how and where to recycle packaging and waste, but also our favourite ways to reuse items and give them a second life!

Along with the upcoming “Vet Post Green Choice”, we are empowering our customers to make greener choices and reduce their own ecological footprint.
