Description
Why owners choose Addiction Wild Kangaroo & Apples
Addiction Wild Kangaroo & Apples is a grain free dry dog food built around a single novel meat, wild Australian kangaroo. If your dog chews at their feet, scratches after dinner or has a stomach that never quite settles, a limited ingredient diet using a protein they have never eaten before is one of the simplest things to try. This recipe leaves out chicken and poultry, wheat, corn, soy, potato and gluten, so there is far less in the bowl to react to.
It is made in New Zealand at Addiction’s own plant in the Bay of Plenty, and it is formulated for all life stages, so puppies, adults and seniors in the same household can eat the same food.
Key benefits
- One meat, fewer triggers. Kangaroo is the only animal protein in the recipe, which makes this a genuine limited ingredient diet for dogs with food sensitivities.
- Completely grain free. No wheat, corn, soy or gluten, and no potato either.
- Lower in fat. At 11% fat it is one of the leaner grain free foods available, which suits dogs who need to watch their weight.
- Gentle on digestion. Apples and green peas add natural fibre, and coconut oil is an easily digested fat source.
- Skin and coat support. Flaxseed supplies omega fatty acids that help keep the coat in good condition.
- Made in New Zealand. Cooked here, with a novel protein that is sustainably sourced.

Switching your dog over
Introduce it slowly over seven days so you do not upset the stomach you are trying to settle. Feed 25% Addiction and 75% of the old food for the first two days, then increase the Addiction a little each day. By day seven your dog can be on Addiction for the full meal. This step matters more than usual with a sensitive dog, so do not be tempted to swap in one go.

Storage
Roll the bag down and clip it after every feed, or drop the whole bag into an airtight bin rather than tipping the kibble straight in. Grain free foods carry a fair bit of natural fat, and that is the part that goes stale. Keep it somewhere cool and dry and out of the sun.
FAQs
Is it completely grain free? Yes. There is no wheat, corn, soy or gluten in it, and no potato either. The carbohydrate comes from green peas, tapioca and yellow peas.
Will it help a dog with itchy skin? It gives you a clean starting point. Most food related itching is a reaction to a protein the dog has eaten before, usually chicken or beef, so a diet where kangaroo is the only meat removes the usual suspects. Give it at least eight weeks with nothing else fed alongside it, and talk to your vet if the itching does not settle.
How long will a 15kg bag last? A 25kg dog eating around 450g a day will get through a 15kg bag in about five weeks. Two large dogs will go through it in roughly half that.
Is it suitable for puppies? Yes, it is formulated for all life stages.
What other sizes are there? Addiction also make this recipe in 1.8kg and 9kg bags. Get in touch if you would like one of those and we will sort it out for you.
