Active Constituents:
Toltrazuril 50mg/mL in a suspension for oral dosing of piglets. Available in 250mL bottles.
Indication:
Control of coccidiosis caused by Isospora suis infection in young piglets. I. suis infection is a major cause of diarrhoea, dehydration, loss of appetite, poor growth and occasional mortality in piglets between birth and 3–4 weeks of age. Clinical coccidiosis of piglets appears from 5-30 days of age. One dose is effective because it attacks all stages of the parasite in the animal. Control of the disease is most effective when the product is given as a preventative before intestinal damage occurs and diarrhoea begins. Therefore, it is important to confirm coccidia are the cause of the scouring in neonatal piglets and, if this is the case, to treat all new litters at 3–6 days of age to control this disease.
Dosage:
TREATMENT: 1mL/piglet orally. Treat all infected piglets and all at-risk piglets.
PREVENTION: 1mL/piglet. Treat all piglets at 3–6 days of age.
Treatment and control of coccidiosis relies on cleanliness and hygiene as well as individual treatment of piglets.
Withholding Times:
49 days
