Description
Smartshot B12 is a long-acting, vitamin B12 injection for cattle and sheep.

Dosage and Administration
Shake well before and during use to ensure the product is fully re-suspended. Administer only with Virbac premium or Acu-Vax injector, by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection into the anterior half of the neck. Sterilise all injection apparatus before use. Needles should be changed frequently and as necessary.
Lambs that are to be fattened for slaughter: 0.5 ml at docking
Lambs that are to be kept as ewe replacements: 1 ml at docking or weaning
Ewes: 5 ml
Calves: 1 ml per 25 kg bodyweight
Storage and Handling
Store upright in a cool place, preferably refrigerated. Do not freeze. Protect from light.
There is no use-by period once the pack has been opened. Virbac do not specify a timeframe for use after opening, so the expiry date printed on the pack is the date that applies, provided the product is stored as above.
This is an oil-based suspension of microspheres, so temperature matters when you come to use it:
- Remove it from the refrigerator at least four hours before use. It injects best between 7°C and 15°C, so cool room temperature and cool to touch.
- Do not heat it rapidly, for example in hot water or on a vehicle heater. Too much heat damages the microspheres and thins the oil base. Gentle warming, such as down the front of a shirt, is fine.
- Shake the pack well before use and regularly during use, so the microspheres stay suspended.
- During short breaks, such as between mobs, keep the draw-off tube and injector level with or above the pack and out of direct sunlight. Do not leave the injector hanging below the pack, or the microspheres will settle and block it. Shake well before restarting.
- On warm days keep packs in a cool place out of direct sunlight.
- After use, do not clean the injector with water. Draw up cooking or vegetable oil and pump it through until all of the product is cleared from the barrel and needle nib valve, then flush the draw-off tube and store the injector in a cool, dry place.
