Description

Made from 100% natural New Zealand sheep’s wool, WOOLGARD WoolGee Wraps are an alternative gamgee product to traditional cotton gamgee bandage wraps for horses. WoolGee Wraps can be used on your horse everyday, including travel, for exercise, competitions, or even as a protective wrap for wound management. Designed as an absorbent, cushioning, eco-friendly layer to apply underneath equine stable or compression bandages.

Key Features:

• Temperature Regulation – Sheep wool is a naturally breathable material and has incredible temperature regulating qualities that are hard to match with products like it. In warmer conditions, this means less sweating under the wrap, and in a cooler climate, the warmth is preserved.
• Enhanced Recovery – The heart of wool fibre is keratin, the same protein that comprises your horses skin and coat. Studies show that keratin can accelerate wound healing and facilitates better overall skin recovery. Wool is the ideal choice for horses with sensitive or healing skin.
• Breathable & Moisture-Wicking – Wool can absorb and release moisture, and can hold up to 30% of it’s weight in water without feeling clammy or wet. WoolGee wraps can wick moisture off the skin, and easily evaporate it. Less irritation is caused by it being close to your horses skin.
• Malleable – WoolGee can easily be molded to fit the curves of an animals body without bunching and leading to pressure and rubbing sores.
• Odour Resistant – Odour-causing bacteria is absorbed by the moisture taken into the wool fibers, preventing sweat build-up and smell. WoolGee can naturally stay fresher and cleaner against your horses skin.

How to use:

1. Carefully measure and cut the required size, and place under the appropriate bandage.
2. Take care to avoid creating pockets and pressure points under the bandage.
3. When bandaging under the knee or hock, use a ‘relief’ hole to relieve known pressure points at the joint.

WoolGee is reusable and can be washed by hand in cold water with a gentle detergent such as sunlight soap, and then laid out flat to dry. Please note the wrap is not pre-washed.

A non-adhesive gauze should be placed between the wound and wool dressing if it is being used to dress a discharging wound. For wound dressings, WoolGee should be changed frequently, following your veterinarians recommendations.

Please note that WoolGee is non-sterilised, but can be sterilised in an autoclave.
