What is Capstar?
Capstar uses the active ingredient Nitenpyram, an oral flea treatment for cats and dogs that kills adult biting fleas fast.
How long does it take for Capstar to start working?
Capstar™ starts killing fleas within 30 minutes to give your pet quick relief. One oral tablet kills over 90% of biting fleas within 4 hours for dogs and 6 hours for cats.
Can Capstar act as a preventative Flea Treatment?
Capstar can be used daily, as needed to help treat and control an existing flea infestation. Regular flea treatment with a separate long-term flea treatment s recommended for long-term flea prevention.
Why am I still seeing fleas after giving Capstar?
Capstar will kill fleas for 24 hours from when the tablet has been given to your pet. To prevent fleas on your pet after this 24-hour period, you will need to use a preventative treatment. Don’t forget, 95% of the flea infestation are likely to be present as immature stages throughout the pet’s environment. This means that until the environmental infestation is controlled, your pet will continue to be exposed to hungry fleas. Where you do have an established flea infestation, it is important to treat all pets within the home, as well as wash pet bedding and vacuum any carpets.
