How it Works
ThunderShirt is a soft, adjustable calming wrap designed to apply gentle, constant pressure around your dog’s torso. Similar to the comforting feeling of a hug or swaddling, this snug pressure may help some dogs feel calmer during stressful or unfamiliar situations.
It is easy to put on, lightweight and suitable for use at home or while travelling. ThunderShirt can be used on its own or alongside your dog’s wider calming and behaviour plan.

Fitting Instructions
- Place the main body of the ThunderShirt along your dog’s back.
- Gently fasten the front straps around the chest and neck area. These straps hold the shirt in position and should not place pressure on the neck.
- Bring the long torso flap underneath your dog’s body.
- Secure it using the shorter flap.
- Fold the top flap down and adjust the fasteners until the shirt feels comfortably snug.
- Check that your dog can move, sit, lie down and breathe normally.
The ThunderShirt should fit like a firm, comfortable hug. It should not restrict breathing, movement or circulation.

For the best experience, introduce the ThunderShirt before your dog is frightened or anxious.
Try placing it near your dog’s bed or allowing them to sniff it first. You can also place treats on top of it to help build a positive association.
During a calm period:
- Put the ThunderShirt on for a short time.
- Offer treats, praise or a favourite toy.
- Check that the fit is comfortable.
- Gradually increase how long your dog wears it.
- Take a relaxed walk or spend quiet time together while they are wearing it.
Introducing it calmly can help prevent your dog from associating the ThunderShirt only with thunderstorms, fireworks or other frightening events.
For an even calmer dog, combine Thundershirt with Adaptil Calming products proven to help calm anxious dogs. Each Thundershirt has Thunderpatch on it, perfect for use with Adaptil Spray! Combine the powers of calm.

Highly recommend. It does need to be firm around the chest. Make sure you do the neck first to get the body properly positioned. Our dog who cries in the car, will lie down and sleep with this on.
